Trains of fame: graffiti on rail design

Trains of Fame

Although never having been a child, an avid amateur models or models (fault by my side girl perhaps?), I discover, with trains of Fame , these miniature reproductions have more tricks in their bag, and will even invest the decorative world, without turning into kitsch.

Trains graffés par Zenoy

Trains of Fame was originally an art project with drums beating, and successfully, on the theme of graphic art and its expression on the cars of our public transport daily.

An exhibition gallery for the occasion Oberkampf meets in January 2011, no less than 133 eminent personalities of the tag, invited to speak on models metro, RER trains and thus to pay homage to what is TODAY 'Today recognized as an art form in itself.

Trains graffés par Decap

Models of Trains of Fame, graffées (scratched?) Exclusively by five designers of the Paris metro (Comer, Decap, Pone, and Zenoy Pro) are now available on the website of the same name, where it is also possible acquire blank templates to customize to tire run free their own creativity.

Trains à graffer

One way my faith as original as fun, modern and furiously, to make a small stone in the edifice of urban deco ...

City Plates notNeutral

It takes me lately desires to renew my dishes everyday ... a certain weariness, no doubt, to use for over ten years remains the same, not really elegant and pretty mismatched, my student life.

I readily admit I craquerais for cartographic plates from notNeutral that reproduce the plans of 20 cities on five continents.

The City Plates have been imagined in 2006, following a mapping project on urban space led by the design firm Rios Clementi Hale Studios as part of the Convention of the American Insitute of Architects in Los Angeles.

NotNeutral (brand founded by Rios Clementi Hale Studios) was then inspired diagrams from this project, and literally transcribed on ceramic products, covering five series featuring each focus on a particular urban issues.

The plates are indeed not mere reproductions of road maps, but highlight, through the interplay of colors, lines and spaces, reflecting on the legacies and interconnections that are specific to each urban unit, with a graphic rendering of course as original as successful.

Culture and pleasures Deco Neopodia

Nothing like the perfect start to the weekend, as to perfect his knowledge of the history of art and decoration!

This is what I propose to do with me, and especially that of Neopodia House and Leisure , this beautiful site free videos covering all themes of home and garden, watching two exciting reports on the history of toile de Jouy.

Some may smile at the mention of this fabric lying around wrongly kitcherie a reputation, and I also tended to view with caution.

However, a further development as useful as teaching history proposed by Sophie Rouart (head of archives at the house Pierre Frey ), (re) discovered with (Sir) Peter Frey - Ambassador of the same house) all of timelessness Stories in this painting so special, now revisited by top names in contemporary design such as Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

If however the toile de Jouy is not your cup of tea, nothing prevents you from spinning on Neopodia , the site is full of topics and nice tips designed for all ages and all tastes!

70's revival

It is well known, the characteristic modes is to return at regular intervals making us believe they are the latest innovation. I fortunately narrowly escaped those cowboy boots and other bits of faded, and now fears one thing: that these fads teen waiting to resurface my children ...

However, I am pleased to note that often the culture of the 70 still has a bright future ahead of them ... It must be said that in terms of style, it is rather rich and diverse: amateurs loose pants to neo-hippies through aficionados of leather and suede, hard not to find happiness, especially when it is crossed with more modern touches that sublime radiance.

And if I told you it is the same in terms of decoration, the total look seventies has a tough life, you believe me?

How does it not?

The color brown Chocolate and success of the current bear me witness, nothing is more likely, in deco style of the 30 glorious years ...

Know that Branex Design does not stop at the only edition of stools Tam Tam I have already mentioned all the good I thought ... there is little brand has indeed developed a range of furniture directly inspired by this object worship. I am particularly charmed by the coffee table in the collection, do not you?

However much like the vintage, it is still wise to move with the times, and one is possible thanks to Tam Itam , a piece of technology that hides a station for music players and other mobile phones brand new generation of at the apple.

So convinced? I told you that the post-Woodstock was beautiful day in front of him ...

100% VIP (P)

It's summer, between torpor and holidays, I feel a duty to offer a little culture by launching a large deco edutainment series:

"You also discover the story behind a brand."

Today, let's look at the brand Vipp , a happiness of Danish Scandinavian design roots well anchored ... Did you know that this prestige brand (if you do not believe me I'll leave the price of sifting) was his existence to a single hair salon?

Not?

Owl, you lie down with the feeling of having earned your day!

The purpose of Vipp lighthouse, one by which awareness comes, it's trash , gold, said bin was invented the day or Madam Vipp, a hairdresser by trade, solicited a metallurgist husband to the dustbin of manufactures teaches his future.

[The scene takes place in Denmark in 1939]

[Mrs Vipp (whose real name is Marie Nielsen)] - "Tell me Holger, where she is this garbage? How do you want me to have a customer if the ground remains of the store is covered with hair?

[Mr. Holger Nielsen Vipp alias] - (It annoys me with his stories of trash, I'm milling my turner, not Gyro Gearloose ...) [aloud] I'm working my angel, I'm working! ...

(Author's note: the context and the dialogues are purely fictional. Any resemblance to existing facts or dead is purely coincidental.)

The bin in question was an immediate success and overwhelming to customers, marking the beginning of success and fame for Mr. Nielsen and his creation he named "Vipp", Danish verb meaning "switch" in reference to the mechanism foot.

The factory is growing, but the pattern changes little, keeping at heart to preserve square lines softened by rounded corners ...

His second commercial success, the Vipp is the youngest daughter of Nielsen, who took over the business upon the death of Mr, and decided to offer the bins to individuals - so far, only professionals had access.

Today, there is no stopping the brand after the launch of his collection of linens in 2006 - cotton towels and bamboo fiber - these are the accessories for the bathroom that have the wind in its sails ... The design is characteristic, but the palette (including graphics) is diversifying, and it is likely that the small Danish brand will bring more surprises for next season ...

Would I be the victim of a curse health? it is unconsciously the latest posts to date are devoted to a common theme :)

Reflect the design

"Culture is the adventure".

You may remember that this is stated slogan of France Culture in the 1980s, deliciously whispered background of relaxing music.

If the slogan has changed, it still remains relevant, adventure consisting of first place for the novice listener of this find caught by considerations also passionate unsuspected unsuspected.

tout-arrive-27-mai-2009

Listening to an ear a little distracted the show "Everything Comes", broadcast every day between 12:02 ET 13.30 (I've always loved unusual hours so typical of France Culture), I was quickly grabbed by attention keywords evocative, which formed well a tag cloud quickly felt well in my little brain: "Design, Matali, art, creation, inspiration, designer, industrial design".

"The devil, I tell myself, that's for me" ... One of the topics discussed was nothing less than "Design and Literature", this, on the occasion of the publication of an eponymous book by Esther Henwood committed writer and journalist who explored for us the most intimate relationships that we imagine between industrial design and creative writing ...

The book was published on April 22 published by Norma

designetlitterature

The author has engaged in an investigation in order, and interviewed a number of contemporary designers, including, specifically, Matali, a true icon of industrial design whose inspirations and accomplishments are many.

In short, if you want to shut up your friends nerds who consider the design surface and little of interest, you know, with 49 euros, you have to do.

How does one become a "designer for balconies"?

In fact, I am an architect, specializing in retail projects ['s note: otherwise known retail]. It is by chance that I came to the balconies, just when I realized that, whether there are products specially designed for all living spaces, this is not the case of balconies, for which we are forced to buy items that have absolutely not been created taking into account the specificities of such a space. And so that was developed in 2006 the flowerpot Steckling . This first project then knew quite a stir, and voila ...

Is there a particular interest in Germany for the decoration of balconies, terraces or windows? What are the main users' expectations?

In my opinion, there are around a common interest in the balconies. This is also attested to by the products thought both in Brazil than in Scandinavia or the USA ... The balcony is a "green room", limited in size, which, because of the scarcity of 'good' products , is often rencardé the rank of storage. And yet, in large cities, it is often the only green space we have directly under the nose.

What projects are you working on now?

Currently, I work at a bird feeder project for convertible " Steckling "come winter, the plants are removed from the tray and it inserts a manger in place specifically designed for this purpose.

A word (a board, an idea, a suggestion ...) for fans of balconies in France?

I would suggest that the French have a balcony to reconnect with the culture of their balcony overgrown! Why have you in his living room furniture design, and, to a glass of distance, vulgar pots terracotta colored plastic ...?

I leave you with these considerations, if you want to learn more about Michael and exciting creations, please visit the website Rephorm well as the fascinating blog of Michael

A strange bird and a contest

You may have noticed you, too, after our interiors, decorative trend has taken hold of the arrangement of our balconies, windows and other openings to the outside world. So that I could enjoy the fashion and the opportunity to present the work of a designer specialist subject, and I absolutely love creativity: Michael Hilgers. This young designer Berlin is the proud founder of the brand Rephorm , entirely dedicated to the development of balconies and terraces, whether flower pots, furniture or accessories.

With a creativity that does not seem affected by the anxiety of the blank page, Michael Hilgers has created a product line simple and elegant - which is not necessarily easy when it comes to outdoor furniture, except to mix with the spheres of banking interdict - that deserves some attention fully.

The first success came with the planter Steckling - literally cutting - create a simple, innovative and ergonomic arises simply on the windowsill without requiring any tools, ideal if like me you suffered a broken finger when it is to manipulate a hammer ...

Since then, projects have proliferated, good ideas, too ...

I have a soft spot for one of the newest additions to the collection, the ashtray Rohrspatz . This charming urban volatile - Rohrspatz is the German name of little sparrow - like its congener oviparous, like to nest on ledges and welcome the bad habits of your guests who balk certainly more as to smoke on the balcony!

If Rephorm with some success, well deserved indeed, a project that has most caught my eye, the lamp of adjustable Sling balcony, unfortunately, has not yet been possible to manufacture large-scale Industrial ... taste, if you read me, this lamp looks-like post-modern ... and hear my call: what do you want to give him a chance?

Before I could boast of having contributed to the production of this fixture out of the ordinary, I wanted to offer a more direct practical utility in combination with the first contest of this blog

Small pleasure regressive

Is the approach of spring and the rebirth of nature? I feel these days full of nostalgia for the petty feelings of our childhood, those who, year after year, we continue to invade overturn without warning, in a Striptease Carambar or inhaling the smell of new books ...

My old memories to me is more on the side of lunch in the canteen, much to the succulence of the meal, but for everlasting covered that, in kindergarten primary, primary to secondary, have become indestructible travel companions.

Needless to say, therefore, that I almost felt a tear in his eye when, enticed by the name, I contemplated the French carafe (sic) proposed by Royal VKB . At first sight, nothing but very basic, so a pitcher, who besides being rather pretty clever wants, since it allows the top to hold stacked four glasses ....

And these glasses in reincarnation unexpected Duralex national obviously did not fail to vibrate a chord in me waking up in the buried memories of breakfasts past to compare our ages deep in our cups ... I do not know if Royal VKB has pushed the number up tribute funds, but this detail does not however prevent me from applauding wildly ...

Small, Small, Small

Mimi ... everything is in Anne-Claire Petit

For that I am not -tricoteuse/couseuse/brodeuse, the creations of skilled hands are small miracle. I discovered rather late in the wonderful world of Anne-Claire Petit , who imagine in 10 years (already!) toys and accessories for children but adults of all tastes are in my view legitimate to appropriate ...

Anne-Claire Petit, who made his debut at Spirit , had the idea to imagine pleasing menu items and accessories for children fully realized the hook ... I'm even wondering if it was ultimately not played a pioneering role in the conversion of crafts of all kinds in the embodiment of hip and trend to follow ... It's not for you I will learn it is very fashionable to barter for the gym class sessions initiation to knitting ...

The originality of the process and technique, craft, is twice that of the products, which change slightly from traditional models of rabbits and teddy bears, which are great for all eternity in the firmament of classic baby gifts. Anne-Claire Petit is a world that is bedecked reinvented form of soft toys and decorative accessories: dachshunds, terriers, chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes, but also guitar, flowers, mushrooms, cars ... I password (and best!), it seems that anything, even the most basic of everyday life, a source of inspiration for great creative.

Not content to shine by his imagination, Anne-Claire Petit is distinguished by an ethical approach very interesting. In addition to using, primarily, to organic raw materials, the brand is part of a process of fair trade, employing women from rural communities of Asia, ensuring them an income while preserving their social balance and family.

With a touch of impatience and excitement, I discovered with delight that the spring collection of the brand keeps its promise, with a wider range of styles and colors, and just as exciting news.

In good fan of tea, I always jumped with joy when contemplating these services pretty lifelike colors to always successful.

Tea time !

Tea time!

But this is the cushion-TV that caught my votes (probably the last straw for an anti-television convinced), perhaps because it reproduces more faithfully than any nostalgic antediluvian behemoths that despite my age I have not known myself ....
